Local Effort Global Impact

Founded in 2011 to increase the numbers of historically underrepresented students in study abroad, I Keep it Global works with young people across the country to raise awareness about the importance of global leadership, study abroad and international understanding.

African American Collegians that Study Abroad of approximately 2.9 million that attended college in 2013.


The cost of one latte could easily allow a student to purchase a plane ticket abroad for every 300 lattes consumed.

Our Mission

Educating, empowering and activating young people in a movement to think globally, explore globally and live globally. I keep it global is a movement to expand our understanding of the world we live in. We are proud of our journey and invite you to join us. Our goal is to inspire others to keep it global. The I Keep it Global Movement was created in 2011 to honor the legacy of global trailblazers who came before us. People like Bessie Coleman, Bill Pinkney, Paul Robeson, and many others who dared to venture beyond the borders of the United States as well as embrace international communities locally.
